DREAMSCAPE POLICY

DreamScape Privacy Policy

Version: 1.1

Effective Date: July 1, 2026

1. Introduction

The DreamScape Project values your privacy.

DreamScape is designed as a local-first desktop application. Unlike many online AI services, DreamScape processes conversations and stores data on your own device rather than on DreamScape-operated servers.

This Privacy Policy explains what information DreamScape does and does not collect, how your information is stored, and your responsibilities when using the application.

By downloading, installing, or using DreamScape, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

During normal local use, DreamScape does not automatically collect or receive your locally stored creative content.

DreamScape does not automatically collect:

Information may be transmitted when you voluntarily use an optional online feature. Examples include update checks and submitting a character to the Shared Character Library. Information transmitted through those features is limited to what is necessary to provide, secure, moderate, or operate the feature as described in this Policy.

3. Information Stored on Your Device

DreamScape stores application data locally on your computer.

Depending on how you use the application, this may include:

This information remains on your device unless you choose to move, copy, export, back up, or share it.

The DreamScape Project does not automatically receive this information.

4. AI Processing

DreamScape uses locally running AI language models to generate responses.

At the time of this release, AI conversations are processed on your own computer using compatible local models included with or supported by DreamScape.

The DreamScape Project does not receive copies of your conversations during normal use.

5. Character Sharing & Shared Character Library

DreamScape allows users to export character files and share them with others.

When you choose to share exported files through Discord, email, cloud storage, file-sharing websites, USB drives, or another third-party method, you are responsible for that decision. Sharing through a third-party platform is also governed by that platform's policies and practices.

DreamScape also provides an optional Shared Character Library.

Characters stored in your local DreamScape library are not automatically uploaded to the Shared Character Library.

When you intentionally choose to submit a character to the Shared Character Library, the submitted character information and associated submission metadata are transmitted to DreamScape-operated infrastructure so the submission can be reviewed, moderated, stored, published if approved, and made available to other users.

A Shared Character Library submission may include information contained in or associated with the submitted character, such as:

Do not include personal information in a Shared Character Library submission unless you intend for that information to be processed as part of the submission and, where applicable, displayed publicly.

Submitting a character to the Shared Character Library is voluntary.

6. Online Infrastructure & Third-Party Services

DreamScape's core local features do not require a DreamScape account or continuous connection to DreamScape-operated online services.

Optional online features may use DreamScape-operated or contracted hosting infrastructure. This includes services used for update checks and the Shared Character Library.

You may also choose to download DreamScape, updates, AI models, or user-created content through third-party platforms such as Discord, Google Drive, GitHub, Cloudflare-hosted services, or other hosting providers.

Those providers may process ordinary technical connection information, such as your IP address, request time, and basic request metadata necessary to deliver or secure the service.

Third-party services have their own privacy policies and terms of use. The DreamScape Project is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party platforms.

7. Data Security

Because your information is stored locally, protecting your files is primarily your responsibility.

We recommend that you:

8. Data Loss

The DreamScape Project cannot recover data stored on your computer.

If files are accidentally deleted, damaged, corrupted, or lost due to hardware failure, operating system issues, or user error, the DreamScape Project may not be able to restore them.

Maintaining backups is your responsibility.

9. Children's Privacy

DreamScape is intended only for users who are at least eighteen (18) years of age.

The DreamScape Project does not knowingly collect personal information from children because DreamScape does not require accounts and does not collect user data during normal operation.

Individuals under the age of eighteen should not use DreamScape.

10. Update Checks & Optional Online Features

DreamScape includes an optional update-checking feature.

When automatic update checks are enabled, or when you manually choose to check for updates, DreamScape makes a small internet request to DreamScape's official download infrastructure to determine whether a newer executable version is available.

This update request does not include your conversations, characters, scenarios, lorebooks, memory logs, prompts, AI-generated responses, or other locally stored creative content.

As with ordinary internet requests, the hosting or content-delivery provider used for DreamScape downloads may receive technical connection information such as your IP address, request time, and basic request metadata necessary to deliver the version file.

You may disable automatic update checks in DreamScape's Profile settings. Manual update checks only occur when you choose to run them.

The Shared Character Library is also an optional online feature. Characters stored in your local library are not automatically uploaded. Character information is transmitted only when you intentionally submit a character or otherwise interact with the Shared Character Library.

DreamScape may continue to evolve over time.

If future versions introduce additional online services, cloud synchronization, user accounts, or other features that involve collecting or transmitting information, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain:

Where required by applicable law, users will be notified of material changes before those features are used.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

The DreamScape Project may update this Privacy Policy as DreamScape evolves.

The most recent version will be included with future DreamScape releases and may also be published through official DreamScape distribution channels.

Continued use of DreamScape after an updated Privacy Policy becomes available constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

12. Contact

Questions regarding this Privacy Policy may be directed through the official DreamScape Discord community or any future official contact method provided by the DreamScape Project.

Privacy by Design

DreamScape was built around a simple idea:

Your stories belong to you.

By keeping conversations, characters, and creative work on your own computer instead of DreamScape-operated servers, DreamScape is designed to give you greater control over your data while preserving your privacy.

We believe your creativity should remain yours, and we are committed to maintaining a privacy-first approach whenever possible.
